Winter Series 1

The SRC winter series was kicked off today with an epic showing from the trails community. Tons of riders of all ages and skill level turned up in Fontana for some of the hardest sections ever put together at an event like this.

In the Pro division Shaun Miller got out to a solid start while it took other riders a couple sections to settle in. After a couple sections both Scott Thompson and Zak Maeda found their groove and began working towards catching Miller, but at the end of the day it proved to be too little too late as Shaun Miller took the top spot on the podium trailed by Thompson in second and Maeda in third.

Peter Green came out strong finishing in the pole position in the expert division. Joey Carberry came in a close second followed by Travis Anderson in Third. It was a tight finish for all three of these riders with only two points separated first and second.

Monica Thompson took the top spot for this event in the Sport division. She came out on fire and didn’t let up all day with four cleans on the day. Gino Salveo found himself four points behind Monica in the second position and Terry Elam rounded out the top three with some solid riding.

SRC Winter Series 2 will be held on January 24, come out and support the Epicology Team and their fellow competitors as they continue their points battle for the South Ridge Winter Series Trials Champion.

Winter Series 2

With the week prior to the second event filled with record rain, conditions were expected to be muddy to say the least. However surprisingly the one day of sun on Saturday was just enough to dry things out to make for a beautiful day and an equally excellent event.

In the pro division a mere two points separated Shaun Miller and Scott Thompson. Miller took the top of the podium with Thompson finishing in a close second. Billy Hendrickson would round out the top three with a solid day of riding. Scott Thompson described the day as being “a good day for everyone, we all rode well and it was a nail biter towards the end”.

Peter Green continued to ride well but at the end of the day it was Ryan Nathman who would have the wining edge.  Much like the Pro division, the Expert’s were divided by a small margin. It was a competitive event and came down to the final loop to decide who would make it onto the podium. Travis Anderson fought his way onto the podium in the third spot with some determined riding.

Monica Thompson would continue to dominate the Sport division with three cleans on the day. She finished atop the podium with Terry Elam in second behind her and Gino Salevo rounding out the top three.

Winter Series 3

Super Bowl Sunday and rainy weather detoured many from showing on Sunday but in all three divisions the top competitors battled through the urge to stay warm at home and watch the game as they continued to fight it out for the top spot at the end of the day.

src2010_5With points beginning to add up this competition was an important one for both Scott Thompson and Zak Maeda who gained ground on Shaun Miller in the Pro division. BIU rules require all riders to turn in a scorecard at the end of the competition, however unfortunately due to the wet weather Miller misplaced his card disqualifying him. Now with only two more events left every mistake will be magnified as Maeda, Miller and Thompson continue to stride to the finish in hopes of being this year’s champion.

Joey Carberry and Travis Anderson continue to settle into their new places in the expert division. Carberry beat Anderson by a small margin as he tied Peter Green for the lead in the division’s points. In the sport division Monica Thompson kept her spot atop the podium as she finished first for the third time this series.

SRC Winter Series 4 will be held on February 21, come out and support the Epicology Team and their fellow competitors as they continue their points battle for the South Ridge Winter Series Trials Champion.
