For 14 years Redondo Beach has played host to one of the most epic events around the South Bay. Body Glove threw one hell of an event this year, bringing the five things we here at Epicology love most to this year’s Lobster Festival: Excellent food, friends and family, classic tunes, gorgeous models, and some gnarly wakeboarding – to make for a three-day event like no other. We knew we had our hands full trying to hand out some freebies to the nearly 3,000 people who had made their way down to Sea Side Lagoon each day…not to mention being completely swarmed by groves of youngsters eager to get their hands on some Epicology stickers while they waited for their grub.
Southern Californians came in herds for the tasty treats that Lobster Festival had to offer. There was everything from Kettle Corn to fresh sushi. But it was easy to tell by the smiles on people’s faces and the butter dripping from their fingertips that the majority of people came for the fresh lobster that was flown in from Maine.
Body Glove pulled out all the stops with their impressive line up of bands that rocked the stage all weekend including Pretzel Logic, The Beach Toys, Makana, and the John Brown Band.
As the day continued on it was time to see what Body Glove had to offer for their 2010 swimwear line up. And no one was disappointed, especially us, who were lucky enough to be stage-side as the stunning models took to the runway. It was easy to tell by the crowd’s rowdy cheers that they liked what they saw.
Rounding out the evening was the Body Glove Wake Show. Body Glove’s wake team killed it in the 300-foot long lagoon,
which featured a 30ft rail and kicker. Yea, you heard right – only 300 feet. There was no need for a boat at this event to get these mind-blowing athletes across the pond. With the winch they had on hand, the wake boarders and wake skaters were taken from 0-25mph in a matter of seconds.
