Epicology is officially set to sponsor the 3rd Annual WMY Surf Tournament at Torrance Beach, Saturday, August 22nd.
Established in 2007, the Whitney Marie Young Surf Contest is held annually to remember and celebrate the life of the dearly loved friend Whitney Marie Young. The tournament is put on every year to remember Whitney and raise money for the Whitney Young Children’s Foundation.

On, Nov. 12, 2006, Whitney Marie Young, age 19, was crossing a street in San Diego when she was struck by a hit and run, drunk driver. Four days later the driver was arrested and sadly Whitney died of massive head injuries. Whitney’s parents created the Whitney Young Children’s Foundation to keep her spirit and love of children alive. The mission of the Foundation is to encourage children and young adults to dream, live, love and laugh in ways previously unimaginable. The Foundation has raised over $180,000 to date. The Foundation has gifted over $30,000 thus far to organizations that deliver services to challenged children and young adults and particularly those who serve the needs of the poor, minority, and disabled. Donations have been made to Surfers Healing, Children Affected by Aids Foundation, Ride to Fly, Sunshine Kids, Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, and Helping Hands- Monkey Helpers for the Disabled, to name a few.

Epicology is totally stoked to be a part of the WMY Surf Tournament this year. With tons of sponsors and countless surfers enlisted in for this year’s competition, we’ll be there in full force supporting shredders of all ages and doing epic giveaways and promotions throughout the day. It’ll be sick to see the local talent in the area and to be a part of such a good cause at the same time.
After the winners are crowned victorious, the tournament wraps up and heads to Mickie Finns in Redondo Beach for an after party. You know for sure Epicology will be there!
