For 16 years Fontana, Ca has played host to the South Ridge Winter Series. The series spans about two months with a total of five events. Even with less than stellar surf conditions, the Whitney Marie Young Surf Contest in Torrance Beach turned out to be a blast, churning out dozens of competitors to show and compete for some seriously epic prizes on a beautiful day at the beach. From early teens to late 30’s, surfers of all ages came out to show they could still shred the smaller-than-hoped-for waves with some serious style. The Epicology Team got to be front and center for some incredible skill during the BMX vert finals. The riding level was insanely high and the airs these guys were throwin’ even higher. If you’ve never seen these races before…well, you’re missing a good part of your life. Established in 2007, the Whitney Marie Young Surf Contest is held annually to remember and celebrate the life of the dearly loved friend Whitney Marie Young.
